Usually I’d have to kick the volume on my soundbar to 26-28 out of a possible 32 to get normal levels on those films, but last night, 22 did the trick. Checked “Mortal Kombat” again and it was also improved in all areas. Watched “Those who wish me dead” last night on my Fire Stick and the picture quality, sound quality, and yes, volume, were higher than usual. I like the sound when it’s loud though, so might order it again and hope for a better experience. I actually returned the soundbar today because the volume just seems all over the place at times. Just checking…you don’t have the JBL 2.1 Deep Bass Soundbar, correct? The reason I ask is because you mentioned rear speakers and this soundbar just has the main speaker + the sub. Is something wrong with it, or is this normal? The only thing that seems consistently loud/vibrant with this soundbar is the subwoofer. On the positive side, Bluetooth music is nice and loud at volume 16 or 18, so no issues there.Īnyone have these inconsistent volume issues with this soundbar? The wide range of volume performance on this soundbar has me concerned. Will experiment to see if that helps my volume issue, but surely that will be at the expense of the 'fullness' of the sound JBL advertises? Turning off Smart Mode is simply supposed to help with dialogue by reducing the surround experience, or the simulation of it, anyway.Īlso noticing that the soundbar will randomly display "PCM" out of the blue, while I'm playing music. I have noted that the JBL surround sound "Smart Mode" can be turned off by holding down MUTE for 3 seconds and then pushing +. The max volume is 32! On my Vizio 4K TV, the same PS4 system music is super loud at just 1/3 of its max volume. Strangely, even the PS4 startup "system music" at the main menu is extremely low in volume on my soundbar. On the other hand, "Joker" on HBO MAX was very loud, even at 20. Even some 5.1 movies/shows are lower in volume. Playing an Atmos movie like "Mortal Kombat" on HBO MAX.I had to turn the volume all the way up to 32 in order to get to "normal" levels. Have tried both Bitstream and Linear PCM. Using PS4 as my main source, connected via HDMI, then HDMI Out from soundbar to Projector. But I didn't expect the volume to be so much lower when feeding it content w/ Atmos. Yes, I know this soundbar does not process Atmos sound.
